Most transit damage is preventable. It usually comes from a handful of packing decisions made before the carton leaves your floor.
Common causes
| Problem | What goes wrong | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Board too weak | Box crushes or bursts under load | Step up the ply; see the ply guide |
| Box too big | Product moves and hits walls | Use an exact-fit or custom size box |
| No cushioning | Shocks reach the product | Wrap with bubble roll; see the bubble guide |
| Weak sealing | Flaps open, items fall out | Tape seam and edges with BOPP tape |
| Overfilled box | Flaps bulge, corners split | Use a larger size or split the load |
| Poor stacking | Bottom boxes crush | Stack in aligned columns, within limits |
| Moisture | Board softens | Keep dry; use higher ply or wrap |
Pre-dispatch checklist
- Right ply for weight, fragility and distance
- Product cannot move when the closed carton is gently shaken
- Seams and edges taped; tape wide enough for the box
- Heavy items at the bottom, no sharp edges against the walls
- Fragile and this-side-up marks where needed
- Cartons counted, bundled and labelled
Test your sampleBefore a large run, pack a sample and do a simple handling check: lift, tilt and gently shake it, and look for crushed corners or movement. Share the result and we suggest improvements.
What we check on our side
