For an online store, packaging is protection, shipping cost and first impression at once. Match the pack to the product instead of using one size for everything.
Which pack for which product
| Pack | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Corrugated shipping box | Electronics, accessories, auto parts, mixed orders | Pick ply by weight and fragility |
| Mailer box | Apparel, cosmetics, subscription and gift orders | Neat unboxing; white and printed options |
| Courier bag | Soft goods such as apparel | Tamper-evident poly, light and compact |
| Pouch poly bag | Inner pack for parts and small items | Keeps small items together |
Right-size the pack
An oversized box needs more filler and can cost more to ship, because many couriers charge on volumetric weight when it is higher than actual weight. Check your courier's formula, then choose box sizes that fit your top-selling products closely.
Seal it properly
- Use BOPP tape on the centre seam and both edges (an "H" pattern).
- Do not overfill: bulging flaps weaken the box and burst open.
- Add a bubble wrap or paper layer for fragile items.
Branding and unboxing
Printed cartons and mailer boxes carry your logo and make packages easy to recognise. See the artwork checklist before you send files.
Dispatch checklist
- Right pack for the product and weight
- Item cannot move when you shake the pack
- Seams and edges sealed; label placed flat on the largest face
- Order count and invoice inside, protected from moisture
